More than 20 inhabitants of Tsentoroi village abducted.

During recent days, more than 20 men were seized in the village of Tsentoroi (Chechnya) by armed persons in camouflage uniforms and driven away to an unknown destination, according to informations received from local residents. Thus, on 27 April, 4 people were kidnapped in this populated area. This was communicated in a report by the "Council of Non-Governmental Organizations", obtained by the editorial staff of "Caucasian Knot".

On the following day, members of unidentified power structures arrived in the village on motor vehicles with toned windows and drove away 20 people, mainly young men who had gathered in the mosque after Friday prayers. The eyewitnesses assert that all of them were attacked without discrimination, and pushed by force into the motor vehicles. Those who attempted to oppose were severely thrashed. The members of the power structures didn't explain anything or present any charges to the detained people.

On 29 April, unidentified persons took away by force local resident Mohmad-Salah Eliskhanov (aged about 60-62 years) from his own house in Tsentoroi. The reason for carrying out such acts in Tsentoroi village is unknown. The whereabouts and the fate of the kidnapped inhabitants of Tsentoroi haven't been established.

Let us recall that a delegation from the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture is visiting Chechnya. As it became known, on 1 May, the delegation attempted to enter the village of Tsentoroi, but members of the security service who where guarding the entrance to the area didn't allow the human rights activists into the village.
